I would love to use tally as a regular bank, the whole not knowing if I’m losing money on every swipe of the card is a complete deal breaker for me to do this, is a gamble on every purchase pure and simple unless I have the information to hand.
Hey @JonnyE your query has sparked a bit of discussion about what we might be able to do in future functionality to show what you want to know, without distracting or detracting from Tally’s core deliverables for customers regarding their money and banking.
The last RNS referred to Tally as a Non-Bank Financial Institution. Could you please explain more as to what this means as to what’s future Tally offering may look like ?
I can see what JonnyE is saying you could set off to the shop with £100 in your Tally Account and by the time you get there only have £98 or maybe £102?
I hope so, I see it as a basic need for a usable alternative currency. The gold connection is the whole point of tally and shouldn’t be ignored.
The stats page could be located deeper in the profile section of the app and you can track how people use it, I’m guessing it’s a page a lot of people would view.

Hi all,
Curious as to how future promo and advertising for the new 2.0 will roll out.
I appreciate that whilst in beta it was not worth the risk of spending a great deal on glossy promotion but it’s all been pretty tame so far. One or two nice articles, but the Tally account on Twitter has slowed to a crawl even with likes. I think follower count is something like 500+ which is tbh, pretty poor. Twitter seems to have attracted more trolls than anything else.
Are there any plans to create more impact out there?
@Andy and @JonnyE this is not falling on deaf ears. It’s absolutely vital that we hear your ideas, take them on board and move the product forward. All this ideation gets captured into a backlog and prioritised accordingly.
What you are both saying makes perfect sense. We see the value for our customers and the potential for this to become a very vital feature.
Hello all
when is tally going to be using faster payments ??
We have faster payments up and running internally and this will be working for all customers with the new app release, which was submitted to the app store today.
great news thanks Ralph
The 5 close friends I speak to regularly also want to see how many gramms and ounces of tally they hold, so they can relate it to gold coins that everyone knows… A random amount of a new currency doesn’t mean anything to people so how will they get excited and drawn to it.
It’s like holding 1524 satoshi for example
Will card payments IN be available on the V2 app? (its not for android at the mo). Easier to deposit like that for most people I would think.
Any news on European or global roll out?
An NBFI provides banking and/or financial services but is not a bank (i.e. holds a banking licence). Tally operates/competes in the banking space. We have an offering using an independent monetary system. Tally provides both a retail banking offering (i.e. like any bank with retail customers) and Tally is also the central issuing authority of the currency (i.e. like a central bank). Tally is an entire ecosystem, thus there’s a broad scope to what Tally needs to drive forward and achieve. Exciting, but hard work. (Fortunately, we’re not afraid of either of those things)
I have noticed a tally icon on my phone indicating a message ( I think ) but when I open app cannot see message ?
You can see my comment to @99Treble about this.
I understand. This is something we discuss a lot, as you know our vision for Tally to be an easily understand currency - this is even easier to understand than holding grammes or ounces of gold. We might be wrong on this, and will see how a larger customer base feels about it.
For the moment, we’ve decided that having faster payments makes the need for card payments less important. We’ll see if this is the case once faster payments has been live for a bit.
@stix40 yes this means you have a push notification. We’ve had some issues with push notifications and some early learnings have showed us that SMS may be a better comms channel for some customer communication than push.
We do however have plans in our roadmap to open up a Notification center for these notifications to appear in.
